I am working on a site and when I uploaded 2 new modules, the site gave me a server error.
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File --> <configuration> <system.web> <customErrors mode="Off"/> </system.web> </configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File --> <configuration> <system.web> <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/> </system.web> </configuration>

This site also has a redirect that was put on there before I took over using a dcf application. I am not sure what this is, but I feel this is what lead to the crash. I cannot do anything on the site now without getting this error. Does anyone have advice on what to do? I am waiting on the ftp info so I can access the config files.

This error does not appear to be related to the DotNetNuke Gallery module but rather to a module which may include the word 'Smith' in its name. The clue is in the stack trace:

Could not load file or assembly 'Smith, Version=1.0.0.0

It also appears that the error occured while compiling code in the App_Code folder.

I would suggest making a backup copy of then deleting any files located in a sub-directory of the App_Code folder that either has 'Smith' in its name or whose name is like that of one of the two modules you installed just prior to the error. That may stop the compilation error so that you can again access your site.

There are several know issues with Gallery 4.03.00 when run under ASP.Net 4.0 or DotNetNuke 5.05.xx but those do not seem to be the cause of this error. If you are installing Gallery on a site running ASP.Net 4.0 or DotNetNuke 5.05.xx you will need to use the release candidate of Gallery v 04.03.03 available at http://dnngallery.codeplex.com. It is currently undergoing Release Tracker testing prior to its official release.

Thanks, for the advice. I went in and found a few directories where it was coming from. I got the site back up, now I need to figure out what happened.
