A critical error has occurred.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Gallery_03.00.11_Install.zip is my install file.  The install when great, but when i goto the config link on the module all i get is the above error. and links to http://shawnsspace.com/go/Default.aspx?tabid=57&error=Object+reference+not+set+to+an+instance+of+an+object.

I would just ignore this and use the rest of the functions of the gallery but i want to upload a few mp3 files and the limit on the gallery is set to 1000kb.

I modified my web.config as follows in hopes that would break the quota.

 HELP!!!

info- Using Windows 2003 Ent. server / Plesk 7.5.6 "loaded" / DNN 3.1.1 "was default install for plesk" /  MS SQL loaded with plesk control panel.

I just tried to install the same module and the same thing happened to me.

A critical error has occurred.
Unable to cast object of type 'ASP.default_aspx' to type 'DotNetNuke.Modules.Gallery.Container'.

Well thats not looking like the same error! Are you sure you downloaded the Install file and not the Source file LOL.

Any how link me to your site and perhaps i can help you out.  I was able to resolve the issue with the gallery with 3 simple things

  1. updated .dll file
  2. updated settings.ascx file
  3. and ajusting the time out & quota in the web.config file

So if your issue is not resovled yet just post back here with a link to your portal and ill see what i can do to assist you personally.

A critical error has occurred.
Unable to cast object of type 'ASP.default_aspx' to type 'DotNetNuke.Modules.Gallery.Container'.

I used the file called Gallery_03.00.11_Install.zip. There are no errors when I upload it to DNN. When I put the module in my right pane, the above error goes into the content pane. My other modules don't have errors, just the gallery one.

Can you explain how to get the updated .dll file, how to update the settings? Maybe there is something I else I have to do before I can use the module? I am not a programmer.

My portal isn't online yet, I am setting it up in the localhost and won't have my new site online until next week. I am so new at this, I am getting my big mistakes out of the way before I go onto a host server LOL.

Thank you for your help,

~Bee

Bee...

Ok i was unable to find the download links to the files in this forum, took 7 hours to find the solutions to begin with so i just set up a repository on my DNN, also i put a public gallery editable by all users if you would like to play with it till you get yours running.

http://shawnsspace.com/go/YourSpace/VisitorSpace/tabid/57/Default.aspx <<< working Gallery 3.0.11
