so i have a site where 8 different people have their own blog.  yesterday, due to many requests, i split the blogs into their own pages.  i added the blog module on each page and, under module options, i changed each one to match the corresponding blogger.  this worked fine.  now each blogger has a separate page with only their blog on it.  BUT, after doing this, ALL of the blog entries are dated with yesterday's date and time (when I made the changes).  did i permanently screw up everyone's blog, or can anyone see a way in which this can be corrected?

here's my page:  www.downtownblogs.com

thanks in advance.

can you tell me what version of the blog and dnn you are running on?

I did see that a bunch of blogs appear to be posted on the same data.

Let me know.

Apin,

you can use the FriendlyURL section in HOST SETTINGS to set-up specific custom URLs, albeit you WILL have to have the .aspx extension. You will not be able to have myurl.com/user without writing your own HTTPHandler. I have written my own handler to achieve that on one of the projects I have worked on, but that also requires that you have access to IIS to make some minor modifications to the way 404's are handled, but I digress.

Now, if you want to setup a custom url for a blog... for example: myurl.com/user.aspx Then follow these steps:

  1.  Identify the BlogId and TabId
  2. Go to HOST Settings >> FriendlyURLs section (YOU MUST HAVE THIS ENABLED FOR THIS TO WORK)
  3. Click on Add New Rule
  4. Now Enter the name of the User (ie: .*AntonioChagoury.aspx) in the MATCH column and the following text in the REPLACE WITH column:
    1. ~/Default.aspx?tabid=XXX&BlogId=YYY (Replace the XXX and YYY with the tabid and blogid you collected in step1).

Please note that the .* that preceed the name above IS INTENTIONAL and you must provide that. Please also note that you are doing this at your own risk, and I take no responsibility if anything adverse happens to your site.

I created an exact replica of this procedure on my website: http://www.cto20.com/antoniochagoury.aspx

Enjoy.

dnn 4.8.0 - i was on the previous blog version until yesterday when i upgraded to 3.4.0.

upon scanning the blog entries table, i verified the incorrect dates and noticed that many entries were duplicated  (all entries under child blogs).  at one point, i was able to restore the db from a backup (into a separate db) and copy the blog entries table.  this corrected the date problem.  but, upon adding the blog module to one more page, the same thing happened and all the entries were dated with that exact date and time i added the module to the new page.  now, throughout all of my backups and restoring, i've lost the good copy of the blog entries table.

also, when i search my site, blog entries show up with the correct dates.  but, when i click to view the entry, the incorrect date is there.  the correct dates seem to be there somewhere.

any help?
