After upgrading the blog module, the lay-out of the blog listing (preview) gets corrupt when images are posted in the blog posts. It looks like the html is broken halfway that Anchor element. This leads to an non working Readmore button. Also when at the end of the preview a image is shown of a certain height the format of the blogpost preview is ruined. Some times the edit entry or comment button is placed inside the image, or totaly to the right (outside of the table).

Is the new module tested with images in the blog entries?

Hi Raymond,

I'm not sure if this is what you're facing, but the blog module doesn't handle the summary very well when no summary is entered.  Basically, it truncates the summary field at the cut-off which is determined in the Module Options.

If you don't set a summary, then the blog module tries to create one for you.  The problem you run into is that it just truncates the HTML, which in many cases leaves partially formed HTML tags.  To see if this is the issue you are facing, set an explicit summary for the blog post which is shorter than the blog summary limit which is set in Module Options.

HTH,

Don

Hi,

That's exaclty what I'm facing. I will now set the summary field as mandatory.

Thanks,

Raymond

We'll be trying to overcome this limitation of the blog module in the next release of metaPost, a module we've created for offline posting to DNN modules such as the blog module using free tools like Windows Live Writer.  I don't know if metaPost will work for your situaiton or not, but the current version is a Community Edition which you can download from Snowcovered for free.  Also, you may want to check out the Ventrian News Articles module, which many have configured to use as a blog.  It doesn't truncate the summary text field and it allows for multiple pages, which can be great for SEO.  In fact, from an SEO perspective, the Ventrian News Articles module is the way to go.  We're working on a metaPost provider for the Ventrian News Articles which will be coming out soon.
