Is there a way to change the width of the Blog without affecting all other modules? We want to add a Most Recent Blog Entry module to the home page in the left column but it is too wide for the template and distorts the design.

If you're comfortable working with the ascx files, here's what I would try:

  • In the App_LocalResources directory create a copy of ViewBlog.ascx.resx and name it something like ViewBlog2.ascx.resx
  • In the root of your blog module folder, create a coyp of ViewBlog.ascx and name it something like ViewBlog2.ascx.  Be sure to use the same convention you used for renaming the resource file.
  • Remove all the nowraps and any width attributes from the HTML table tags.
  • Log in as host and go to the module definition and add a new definition for the blog module.  You could name it Blog_Left.  This is in the center part of the Edit Module Definition Screen.
  • For this new definition, add a new view control (be sure to leave the Key field blank so that DNN knows that this should be the default view control for your new definition)
  • Go to the page where you want this new control to appear and add the blog module to the page.
  • Remove the other 4 blog module controls that you don't need from this page.

Alternatively (and probably a little more elegant), you could replace the last 4 bullets with these:

  • Log in as host and create a new module definition by choosing Create Module Definition in the Module Definitions interface.
  • Add the info for the new module calling it something like Blog Left, or whatever.  Folder Name can be set to the same thing.
  • Save the module and then add a module definition (just as before).
  • With definition created, add a view control (same as above) which points to the new ascx file you created.

HTH,

Don

PS I gave this a spin as I wrote this and it worked fine in my test environment.
