I want my users to add blog entries to my blog. I've created a blog, but i want to give my user the possibility to add entries. My users have to log in to do this. Is this possible?

Hi Samet,

Right now, the only way to achieve this using just the blog module is to create a generic account that this group of users will use to log in and create blog entries.  You can create an account with a generic name, like Sales Team.  Have each member of your sales team sign each post with their name if it's important to see who created the post.  There are some workarounds which allow multiple users to write posts for a single blog, but the drawback to each of these solutions is that the posted by user listed on the blog will show the actual user account signed to the blog.

Another workaround you may want to consider if you decided to use either of the approaches listed is to hide the section of the page which shows the user.  Details on how to do this can be found here.

Hi Don,

Apart from creating a generic account you mention other workarounds, but you don't go into details about how to do that. Could you expand on the other solutions as well, as the generic account is not the most practical solution?

thanks

Hi Andries,

For people who want to have multiple blog authors for a single blog, I usually direct them to one of the commercial products out there that supports this natively.  Ventrian News Articles, Engage: Publish and ZLDNN's DNNArticle are all good choices.  I've had the most experience with News Articles because it's the first commercial module for which we created a metaPost provider and because it contains many of the features that people want in a blog which don't ship with the current DNN blog module, such as: support for templates, support for showing a customizable list of recent entries, support for categories, multiple pages and multiple authors.

HTH,

Don

This was my goal as well. I suspect we have the same intent. We want to have multiple authors contribute to a corporate blog.

I think I have accomplished it using the approach mentioned in the forum thread here: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/92/threadid/247287/scope/posts/Default.aspx

I did need to create my own link on the page showing where the main RSS feed is. Additionally, I added some other buttons for adding the RSS feed to Google Reader and Netvibes, etc. It is a new approach, but I think it works. You can see what I mean here: www.panatrack.com/Blog.aspx
