hi all,

what i am hoping to do is provide the ability on a new registration to have the ablity to create their own blog. can this be done or is only one blog allowed to a "particular" person and not available to anyone else?

eg, new user registers, wants to create a personalized blog > blog entries become viewable on homepage and allows other registered users to comment on said blog and those comments viewable publically. then somehow on home page, newest blog entries get shown (maybe two of the latest blog entries at most) automatically

did that make sense? or have i missinterprited the blogging feature?

Hi Chuck,

the blog module is designed to do exactly what you want to. In order to enable all the registered users to create a blog and start adding entries, you need to grant them edit permissions to the Menu control and the Entry control. To show the latest entries added on the portal in the home page you can chose either one of the following solutions:

  • Add another instance of the module and set up the correct number of recent entries to show, hiding or deleting the unnecessary controls.
  • Add an XML module in the home page consuming the blog's RSS feeds.
  • Install BlogDisplay from Radiant and leverage on its features.

Let me know if you encounter any problem in performing one of the above tasks.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa

The Blog module will do everything you ask for. Users can create blogs by clicking the Create My Blog link on the New_Blog module.

I suggest you read through the online help on this module for full details on configuring the blog modules for the roles you want to create blogs, and to find out how to select blog settings like comments, uploading files, etc. Check it out at http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Default.aspx?TabId=787&TID=2797&cid=368. If you can't find the answers you need, please post again.
