hi all,

i have started doing some reading and during a particular instruction, says to allow all users to create blogs

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Knowledge/DotNetNukeOnlineHelp/tabid/787/TID/2817/cid/369/Default.aspx

however, when doing exactly that, i dont even have the ability to click on a checkbox as per instructins (checkbox is readonly). i had a lot of red borders arround every container. so i went to the page settings, allowed all users to view .. but still,i  cant go into New_Blog container and allow all users to view.. its just read only

did i miss something?

Hi Chuck,

to enable your users to create their own blog you need to grant them edit permission to the blog management control. You will need to grant edit permissions to the main control too, so that they will be able to approve/disapprove comments. Controls surrounded by red borders are visible to administrators only.

A pattern I usually recommend is to create an user role "Blogger" and grant it edit permissions, then you will only need to add your users to this role to let them create and manage their blog. Let me know if you need help in this.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa

hi dario,

thanks for your response. for me, i need to have all users ability to create their own blog. more of a public social website.

as for the blog management control. what is that control? is that one of the 5 containers of the blog module? if so, which container?

Blog_List

Blog_Archive

New_Blog

View_Blog

or

Search_Blog?

Hi Chuck,

you need to grant your users edit permissions to the New_Blog and the View_Blog controls. They are placed in two of the 5 containers you see when you add the module to a page. Let me know if you need further help.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa

hi dario,

i have looked into the New_Blog container settings and all view persmissions are readonly and therefore i cannot check any box to allow users to view. i can however modify the edit modules permissions with no problems.

i have looked into the View_Blog container, and it is the same as the New_Blog settings. again, view column is readonly whilst edit is not.

have i completely missed something?

thanks
