Hi Chuck,

no, you probably didn't miss anything. If the Inherit View permissions from page option is checked, the view permissions column is read only. In order to allow your user to read the blogs you need to grant them view permissions to the page, and then the view permissions to the module will be inherited.

Again, if you want to allow them to start blogging, you will need to grant edit permissions only to the New_Blog and View_Blog containers to the users you selected. Just check the corresponding checkbox in the edit column and you are done. Please let me know if you encounter any difficulties.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa

Hi Dario,

I have had the same problem and tried your suggestion, but just cannot ever get the "Add new blog" link to appear for anyone at all, not even me as administrator. Is there anything else that can be checked?

Thanks,

David Goyen

Hi David,

could you please check that:

  1. All of the 5 modules are currently visible in the page;
  2. None of the users trying to create a blog don't already own a blog.

Also, what options does the module provide at the moment when logged in as admin?

Best regards,
Dario Rossa

Hello Dario,

I have realised from your comment #2 "None of the users trying to create a blog don't already own a blog" that that was part of my problem. I assumed that I could create more than one blog. I have just deleted the module and re-inserted it, and I do get the Create Blog button. I tested this with another staff member and they can create a blog, so all is well. The only problem might be having to rely on child blogs, but now I understand the mechanism I think we can cope!

Some time ago I added the blog module and was able to create a blog, but I wasn't aware of the necessary permission changes for others to access it, so I gave up. I think there were also bugs in the code.  After re-inserting the module it put my original blog back in (not sure why!), so that would be why I couldn't I didn't get the option to add any further blogs.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Just one line of your response gave me the answer I needed!

Best wishes, and thanks for the great support you are providing.

David
