Hi,

I want to create 2 blogs on the same page.
- one in Dutch
- one in English
With the DSlocalization from locopon you alway sees one module.

Is this scenario possible with the blog module.
Or is there a better way to have 2 languages in a blog module?

With regards, Ton Hermes

Hi Ton,

at the moment there's no built in support for multi language in the Blog module. I don't know how the DSLocalization solution works, but I think you can easily achieve your task creating two blogs, one in Dutch and one in English. Remember that blogs are created on a "per user" basis, so you will need to create two different users too.

Placing the two blogs in the same page may become confusing to your users though. I would rather place the two instances of the module on two different pages, for example "Blog (Dutch)" and "Blog (English)". In each page you can set the module to show posts only from the right blog using the Personal Blog Page option.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa

Hi Dario,

With the DSlocalization module you can hide a module if the language is not the chosen one.
For example.
I have on my home page at watermansite.com 2 instances of the announcement module.
If you choose English as the language you see only the "English instance"
If you choose Dutch as language you only see the "dutch instance"

The Announcement module can exist twice on the same page.
I was just wondering if this is possible with the blog module, because the blog module is more complicated.

Hi Ton,

two or more instances of the blog modules can be placed together on the same page. The problem with this module, though, is that differently from the Announcements module, it shares the same data all over the installation. To be more clear: if you place two instances of the Blog module, both of them will show the same blogs. If you create a blog in one module, it will be shown in the other one too.

This is the reason that having two blogs in two different languages may result confusing, because the entries will be shown mixed up. The Blog module has some display enhancements though. You can set a Blog module to show only posts from one blog: using the Personal Blog Page option. The problem with this option is that is based on the page itself, and if you place two instances of the Blog module on the same page, they will both share also this setting. This is the reason that I suggested you to place the two instances on two different pages.

If I understood well how it works, the DSlocalization module doesn't helps in this scenario, in my opinion.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa
