Hello,

I want to allow users to post comments.
So, I checked "allow users to post comments" field.

There's "add comment" link and space to write a comment.
However nothing is added after I click the "Add comment" link.
The comment shows '(0)' .

Could anyone please give me some adivse on this?
Should I just get a newer version?

Thank you,

shiho

Hi Shiho,

I joined the Blog module team after the release of the 03.03.01 version, and I am not aware of this kind of issues. But before upgrading, you should check if in your Blog Settings the Appproval for comments options are checked. If so, the comments need to be approved by the blog owner before they get displayed. To approve comments, just login as the blog owner, and hit the approve link next to the comments. Let me know if this is your case.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa

It still does it in 3.05.  Do the people that write this thing use it?  It's horrible, sorry guys.  So very user unfriendly and what is the deal with having a limit of 2 blogs.  Is that intentional or am I just not using this thing correctly (you'll have to fogive me if so, the documentation is, well, non existent.)  There is a lot of work to be done on this, and instead of being one of those asses that complain and don't do anything, I'll volunteer to put some time into if you all would like.

Hi Robrichard,

we are putting much effort in enhancing user friendliness in this module, however we admit that there's much more to do. All the team members use this module every day to manage their personal and professional blogs as well. This way we can test our work as soon as it is put in code, and learn what new features are needed. You can see our blogs here:

There's not a limit to the number of parent blogs that can be added to a portal. There's not a limit to the number of child blogs that can be added under one parent blog. The only limit is that every user accout may own one only blog each, and this limit will be cleared in the next version.

Regarding the issue with comments: in order for me to help, you should give me some more info about it:

  1. DNN version;
  2. Blog module version;
  3. Steps to reproduce the issue;
  4. Expected behaviour, effective behaviour;
  5. Eventual exceptions in the Log;
  6. Blog comments settings;
  7. Blog/Page security settings;
  8. 3rd party modules installed;
  9. A link to the page where the issue can be seen in action.

Lastly, your help would be much appreciated. You can start right now entering the DNN issue tracking system and add all the issue fixes and feature requests you would like to be included in the next version.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa

The issue tracker doesn't seem to work (why am I not suprised?), so I'll give the info here:

1. DNN Version 4.09
2. Blog module version 3.05
3. Step to reproduce behaviour:
    a. register and log in
    b. pull up a blog entered by another user.
    c. enter comment and click "Add comment"
4. a. One would expect the page to submit and the comment to be added.
    b. Instead, what happens is the page "looks" like it submits, but never does.
5. Where is this found?
6. Those setting which would allow users to post comments without approval.
7. All users can view.
8. None.
9. Can I send this to you personally?  It is a christmas gift and I wouldn't want 100,000 people posting comments.
