Hello.

I'm new to DotNetNuke (just installed the dnn sourcecode so far.  Nothing more) and was wondering if the blog module can support multi-user blogging such as what they do on CNN's http://www.iReport.com website? I need the ability for any user to register and create their own blog entries.  Once they do, they would have their own category containing just their blogs which another user could view by clicking on their category link from the main page.

I looked into the blog module's parent/child blogs and I think this is what I'm looking for but I just want to make sure.  Can this do what iReport.com is doing?

Also, am I able to change the blog module's source code or do modules simply come "as is"?

Thanks.

Regards,

-Ryan

Welcome to DNN, Ryan!  A couple of quick answers to your questions:

Multi-User Blogging
The Blog module is designed for users to have their own blog(s).  It is -not- designed to allow many users to post to the same blog.  This design, combined with using "Public" site registration (a DNN configuration setting) will allow your site's users to create website accounts and blogs without any need of intervention from admins/moderators.

Blog Source Code
All "core" DNN modules (modules provided with the DNN framework) are open-source.  You can modify the core modules as much as you like -but- it's easy to code yourself into a corner and not be able to upgrade to the latest, greatest version of core modules as new features get added.

Hi Ryan,

the multi user blogging feature will be part of the next version, in the meanwhile, you can download and extend as you wish the source code of the module.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa
