Hi All,

I've downloaded the blog module...all I need to do now is get it installed.

How do you do that? (yes really....I'm new to all this!)

Hello Chemystery,

You need to log on to your site as the Host user and then find the host tab and menu item under that called mudule definitions.  Select that and then find the item called upload new module.  Upload the Install file not the one that has source anywhere in the filename.

You sould probably find the documentation and give that a good read also.  It really helps with DNN.  :)

Cheers,

Hi There,

I too am VERY new to this...coming from a graphic design background. Was it a free download? Could you paste the link you downloaded it from? I thought I had it figured out, but when I got to add it to my group of modules it does not show up. Do I need to restart the program?

Thanks.

Hi tgazin,

The short answer is the same.  Read the docs and all your questions will be answered.  :)

The long version is.  Go to the project page for the Blog module and then click the link on the left for project downloads.  Download the InstallPA.zip file not the one that mentions source in the title.  You can find the projects from the link at the top of the page, a little gear looking thing that says projects.

Log on to your site as host and then go to the Host / module definitions link.  There will be a little caret or triangle on the left side that if you hover over it a menu will pop up and you select upload new module from that.

Use the browse button and select the whole zip file. Then click add.  Next click upload new file.  A bunch of stuff will scroll by.  As long as there is no red you've got no problems.  Then at the bottom of the page you will see a link labeled return.  Click that and wait a second you will go back to the module definition page.  Cancle out of that page.

Go to the page where you want the blog module installed and add it just like any other module.  There is no need to restart the application.

Come back to this forum and read all of the sticky threads that HP has put up.  Be prepared to delete the  module from the page a couple of times until you get it the way you want.  It can be a little trick the first time around until you get the hang of the terminology.

Cheers,

Paul Davis
