I have added the blog module v3.5.0  to my DNN 5.00.1site.

I have created a blog entry, but when I click on the "Read More" link or on the Blog entry title, I get the following error.

This webpage has a redirect loop.

The webpage athttp://win2008svr64:8080/Home/grakenmolsblog/tabid/64/EntryId/1/Zoom-with-XAML.aspx has resulted in too many redirects. Clearing your cookies for this site may fix the problem. If not, it is possibly a server configuration issue and not a problem with your computer.

Here are some suggestions:

 More information on this error

Below is the original error message

Error 310 (net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS): There were too many redirects.

This is in CHROME.. I get a similar error when using IE7..

I get this error from within my internal domain, and also when accessing my DNN site from outside the domain.  The link above shows the host as the server internal to the domain.  This is the host I have entered in the HOST URL field on the HOST - HOST SETTINGS page of DNN..  It is also my default (top of the list) portal alias.

Is anyone having the same or similar issues???

Does anyone know how I might go about rectifying this?

I just (finally) installed 3.5.1 ... and am running into the same problem (browsers: Firefox 3 on Mac, IE 7 on Windows).

When I'm logged in as administrator, the problem can't be reproduced - there it works. However, as guest user (not logged in), or as a regular (non-administrator) user it doesn't work.

It seems to have to do with the SEO friendly URLs. A quick fix for me is simply disabling those in the Module Options (SEO Settings / Show SEO Friendly URL).

I've also tried "Regenerate all Permalinks for this Module" - but that didn't make any difference for me.

The module is probably trying to do a 301 redirect to a SEO-friendly name and comparing it to a URL value repeatedly and failing.

Are you using any URL rewriters (like Ifinity)? Are you using .aspx extensions on your site?

Can yuo post an example of the URL it is trying to reach?

Accepted Answer

I have now updated the blog to v3.5.1 and it seems to have removed this issue.

However I do now have another, which I will start a new thread for.

thanks for feedback.
