Have found the answer to some of those questions and solved one of the validation issues. The RSS feed is switched on and a webmaster email can be configured in the Blog settings (in v4.0.0 as well). You can pick up the RSS url from the feed buttons that appear on the blog listing.

However, dates in the feed are formatted according to the site default language, not the blog culture or date format settings. They should in fact always be formatted in English (eg. Wed, 02 Oct 2002 13:00:00 GMT ) to be compliant with the RFC822 spec. This is an issue for my site as the default language is Spanish.

I'll raise this on the forge and hopefully will get a fix before the next release :)
