I recently started having an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." error when viewing Blog entries. (I'm not sure if upgrading to Blog 4.01.01 or DNN 5.06.03 caused the problem - reinstalls didn't help.)

At some point (whether due to me changing the container, clearing the cache, or something seemingly unrelated) the error message changed into...

"error BC30456" because "'removeHtmlTags' is not a member of 'Utility'".

I was able to work around this by changing the "removeHtmlTags" line in ViewEntry.ascx to an older version of the code which just uses "Tag" without applying the "removeHtmlTags". Entries not display just as they should.

I assume the html tag removal is a feature and would like to resolve this error without bypassing it.

Any thoughts as to what was causing this?

thats odd, ive not seen that reported - typically bc30456's come up because of invalid API methods, though often this is because something is failing to compile e.g. either a missing dependency or non-compiling WSP (app_code) code i.e. perhaps code expects .net 3.5sp1 and will not compile under 2.0. In either case I recommend logging this at http://dnnblog.codeplex.com/workitem/list/basic
