I tried version 5 this weekend but found it way to buggy, with formatting issues and disappearing category lists, I tried to remove it via the host extensions tab but that ended up failing.

I would like to give 4.1.1 a try but I cant install it due to 5.0.0 being stuck. So other than restoring the site and database is there a way to manually remove all references to 5.0.0?

You can check the database manuelly, and remove Views, Procedures and Tables.  It could be some tricky about the FKs and DKs.  After the database is cleared it would be possible to run the uninstall on the Extension tab.

Sorry I did not save the log, but If it helps it was a clean install of DNN 6.2.2 on windows 2008 R2 web server with with a SQL 2008 database on a 2nd 2008 R2 std server. the only items added were the version 5 blog and a two page blog "with content imported" skin made with Artisteer 4.

The install of blog 5 went with out a hitch reported. although I had to manually create the entry in the taxonomy table and the category link field for blogs only showed up half the time plus the control that should list bloggers and the number of posts never showed any data.

I tried clearing out any trace in the database but must of cleared some thing I should not have because I could no longer go to the host page with out an SQL error.

I ended up wiping it all out and loading 6.2.3 with version 4 blog and I must say its working great so I am chalking it up to a bad web install or maybe a conflict with Artisteer 4 content import if that's even possible?

Loks as it was not a Blog issue for me.  I think it happens with the permissions and/or SQL permissions.  Check the settings.
