I have installed the latest version of the Blog module v5 it appears to be missing some parts.

There is no search functionality and it does not seem as configurable as v4.

If I delete the extension v5 will I loose blog entries that already exist?

I am considering going back to v4.

Any help would be appreciated!

If you delete the blog - you will lose the entries (this goes for most modules).

The easiest way is to restore from a backup before you upgraded (if not much has changed between now and then).

The harder way is to rollback the changes by looking at the sql scripts and overwriting the older files. This requires that you really know what you are doing though!

Before I go that far, has the search feature etc been removed in v5 or is it still available meanimg I have had an error during upgrade.

I just tested the standard Search Input module and I can see that it found a bunch of stuff in the rest of the site, but nothing in my blogs (it should have). So, if the search for the blog module is truly gone, should the standard Search Input / Search Results work?
