Folks,

We are running a community website at http://community.mmna.org. It is running DNN 7.0.3 with Blog module 5.x.

There are a few blog configuration items I don't understand. I would appreciate it if someone can help me where to configure them properly.

  1. 1. In the "Blog Settings" UI, I have specified the name format should be "Display Name" and not username. However, if you notice on the page, it shows username (support) instead of display name. But when you click on the blog entry, it correctly displays the display name (Web Admin). Is this a bug or some other configuration that I am missing?
  2. There is only one blog that we have called "Community News and Events." The first blog entry that you see is assigned to a category called "National."  There is a "File Under" line after the blog entry header. This line shows two items - the blog name (Community News and Events) and the category (National). Is there a way to show just the category and not the blog name?
  3. Actually, the whole "File Under" line looks ugly. Is there a way to just get rid of it?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Regards,
Peter

Just letting you know I am getting the same problem as your issue number one. Using blog version 5.0.0 on DNN 6.2.3.

So far have no fix yet.

For item three, edit the resource

 \DesktopModules\Blog\App_LocalResources\ViewBlog.ascx.resx  lblCategories.Text

through admin>languages

Peter, the name issue is a bug. We are trying to get more attention paid to fixing it. If you look at http://dnnblog.codeplex.com/workitem/... in codeplex, login and vote for it. That will raise it up. You can sort the listings on the Issue Tracker tab there by "Votes" and you will see the competition for getting this issue fixed.

One work-around I have done for a blog is to use the ghost-writer feature and have all the posts appear to come from just one user. I create that user with exactly the same name for Display Name and Username. Then everything on the blog looks good.

As for your points 2 & 3, I ended up using some CSS in the page settings header to set that line to display:none;  Works pretty well.
