I'm new to using this blog module, is there a user manual or guide somewhere to get me started? An employee who is no longer here started this blog.

First question I came across - in testing, I added a comment as a test user, and it said it had to be approved by an admin. I'm wondering if there are notifications / where they are sent to so the admin knows to go look and moderate.

Although that manual is based on 7.0.6 Project Manuals - the Blog portion has nothing to do with the version of the Blog module that actually works with 7.0.6.  It relates to the pre-7 DNN.

Its strange that even though the manual obviously came-out for version 7 of DNN - they don't bother mentioning that the Blog as in the manual is not really available and works in a completely different way.

Just FYI...

Yes there are manuals, but they are each for different versions. I expect the version you are using is 4.1.1 or there abouts. The manual for that version of the blog module is online:

The newly released Version 6.0 of the blog module came out on Monday of this week, so you probably don't have that. It is available at: http://dnnblog.codeplex.com/releases/...

 Regarding admins getting notified, yes that is an option you can set up if you are an admin.
