Hi,

After I upgraded DNN from 3.1.1 to 4.0.2 I can't add categories in blog module. The error I recieve is : Object reference not set to an instance of an object. I can still read old blog entries and I can also add new one. Someone can help me? Thanx

I presume you're running under asp.net 2.0? Please login as the host user and check under the logviewer and see if you can provide more detail, I am not aware of this issue currently. In addition, please check the log files in your Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider folder to ensure the core update worked as required.

Hi,

Reading update logs I found this two exceptions during 4.0.0 updating:

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Cannot resolve collation conflict for equal to operation.
at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection)
at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection)
at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.ThrowExceptionAndWarning(TdsParserStateObject stateObj)
at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.Run(RunBehavior runBehavior, SqlCommand cmdHandler, SqlDataReader dataStream, BulkCopySimpleResultSet bulkCopyHandler, TdsParserStateObject stateObj)
at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.RunExecuteNonQueryTds(String methodName, Boolean async)
at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.InternalExecuteNonQuery(DbAsyncResult result, String methodName, Boolean sendToPipe)
at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery()
at Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.Data.SqlHelper.ExecuteNonQuery(SqlConnection connection, CommandType commandType, String commandText, SqlParameter[] commandParameters)

at Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.Data.SqlHelper.ExecuteNonQuery(String connectionString, CommandType commandType, String commandText)
at DotNetNuke.Data.SqlDataProvider.ExecuteScript(String Script, Boolean UseTransactions)

ALTER PROCEDURE dbo.aspnet_UsersInRoles_RemoveUsersFromRoles

and

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Cannot resolve collation conflict for equal to operation.

at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection)

at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.Run(RunBehavior runBehavior, SqlCommand cmdHandler, SqlDataReader dataStream, BulkCopySimpleResultSet bulkCopyHandler, TdsParserStateObject stateObj)
at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.RunExecuteNonQueryTds(String methodName, Boolean async)

at DotNetNuke.Data.SqlDataProvider.ExecuteScript(String Script, Boolean UseTransactions)

ALTER PROCEDURE dbo.aspnet_UsersInRoles_AddUsersToRoles

These are only logs I found. Yes, I'm running under asp.net 2.0 and my DB is SqlServer2000. The same error I noticed to blog module appears also in Forum Module. In this case I can't add new forum or groups...

Thanks for your fast reply

This is an issue where the collation for your current database and the tempdb database are out of sync, and a temporary table is used (see http://www.ssw.com.au/ssw/KB/KB.aspx?KBID=Q211874 for more). It looks like one of the upgrade scripts uses a temp table, and has failed. Ideally, rollback your install, make the change to the database collation and then rerun the upgrade.
