Shame on me for not testing every feature beyond the basic user functions (can users log in, can admins create pages, modules, roles, files etc...)

That's basically all I can do as well.

However, I've suggested this idea previously.. wouldn't it be possible to come up with a script that one could run after installing DNN, that would test dozens of different aspects automatically and display the result... if it got that far?

It seems each time I've been caught out was because of something obscure.. and it always makes me wonder about things going on behind the scenes.. what flaws am I missing because I can't see them??

I have read that 4.4.2 will maybe arrive soon... Where is the truth ? Is it worth upgrading 4.3.7 to 4.4.1 or should I wait the 4.4.2 ???

I don't think DNN 4.4.1 is buggy. I used the pre-release version for Platinum Benefactors on my production site for a week and after it was released to the public I installed that version. I don't have issues with 4.4.1 at all.

As a matter of fact I did also a clean install. Installed Active Forums, News Articles, Time Clock, Subscription Tools and all went fine.

But what did you do with all your previous content ???? You lost everything ???

In fact, my question was not so nicely phrased. My question is the following: if I upgrade to 4.4.1, and in few weeks to 4.4.2, excepted the extra work, is it a problem ?? (does it affect performance to make multiple upgrade once after the other).
Or more general, does it affect performances or anything else if you upgrade successively each time there is a release, instead of doing it in one shot ??

  1. No, I did not loose anything. As I wrote I upgraded my site but also did a clean install with all the modules I use. You can also do a clean install of DNN and all the modules you use and then copy data from one database to the other.
  2. You can always wait for new versions. You can also wait for 4.4.3 if you wish. You can stop upgrading totally...I would certainly install DNN 4.4.1. That version includes more then 70 fixes.
