You disabled Http-Compression which will affect the size of your pages that are transmitted to the browser.  So it will affect performance somewhat.

For even better performance, try the free PageBlaster which is an alternative to the core compression module that also gives you dynamic page output caching.

So, before we all go off buying more modules to fix what should work anyway, can someone from the Core team tell us if this is a legitimate bug in 4.4.1?

I seem to recall this happening in a previous release when there was an issue with module cache settings?

Regards,
Rob

 John,

Thanks for the post; I was having a similar problem with the update link on Site Settings. I also had the portal completely shut down on me after clicking update, could not get home page to display following a SQL error message, had to restore from a previous days backup to get the portal back on line. Same problem started again after restoring. Finally turned off compression and commented out the entry in web.config. Since then things are a bit slower but more reliable.

I agree - it should work normally without bying additional modules.

That said, I recently installed PageBlaster and the performance boost is awesome. So while it should not installed as a "big fix" it is still an awesome caching module.

Hi Guys,

I am having the same problem - I enabled compression and then noticed the problem happening on Profile Edit and New User regs, for IE 7.

I turned Compression off, cleared the cache, restarted the app and now commented out the Add compression statement in the web config, but still no luck!

Any other ideas? (I want to get it back to working before installing PageBlaster)
