I don't believe that the SMTP module is working.  I have installed dnn 4.4.1 and am trying to setup the SMTP confiuration so I can support verified users along with all of the other email related tasks.  I have tried to set this up using 3 different SMTP servers.  I have verified that they do work, and are hosted by different companies. I am performing these tests by hitting the "test" link next to the SMTP Server setup. If I assume the setup is correct and try to have the website send me a copy of my password I do not get an error but I also do not get the email. The following error messages are the same for all servers tested.

First if I try and connect on the standard SMTP port 25, the process times out and I get the error:
Failure sending mail. Unable to connect to the remote server
This is display on the site settings page.

Second if I try and connect on an alternate SMTP port here is the error that I get on a error page.
Error: Host
Settings is currently unavailable.

It is very easy to enter wrong details in this section. Let us know what you are putting in and what fields you are checking.

Settings I have been using:
SMTP server:   valid SMTP server names, Godaddy's, Startlogic's and AuthSMTP replaying SMTP servers.  Server name were both manualy typed in and cut and pasted from working configurations.  For attempting to connect onto alternate ports a colon was used with no spaces ex mail.authsmtp.com:2525  (FYI cut an pasted into this message)

The values used in the remaining part of the SMTP section made no difference in the error messages I received.  I tested this just to validate that the problems seems to be in DNN and not something else.  Just for completeness I am including the rest of the information provided.

Authentication is checked as Basic although out of frustration I also tried the other two settings.

SMTP Enable SSL unchecked.  It is not needed for any of my services but I did try it too just for grins.

SMTP usernames and Passwords are valid values. no spaces or odd character used.  In the case of AuthSMTP I just cut and pasted from the configurtion documents.

I forgot to add that the website is hosted on GoDaddy and the SMTP servers that i am trying to connect to are available on the standard smtp port 25 and on alternate ports.

I am not familliar with GoDaddy, But it is possible they block mail to outside domains. Possibly you need ot use theirs.
