Hi,

Just trying to install Events 03.03.01 on DNN 4.4.1.

During the install I get a single long error SQL showed below. (Errors with 3.3.0 SQL script which seems to be fixed in 3.3.1 since the SProcs are created in the DB at the end of the install process).

Then, the module does show up as 3.3.1 in Module Definitions.  The module can be added to a tab. Though once I try to go Settings to initially configure the module, I get the following:

Error: Module is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.Exceptions.ProcessModuleLoadException(PortalModuleBase ctrlModule, Exception exc) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Events.EventController.UpgradeEvents(Int32 ModuleID) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Events.Settings.LoadSettings() at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Modules.ModuleSettingsPage.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace

Hello again.

I upgraded to 03.03.02 and investigated the error I had gotten.  The "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error was due to an error on my part.  I used integrated security and the error was due to ASPNET not able to login to the DB (found though an error message I got trying to add an event).  The part I don't undersand is that the portal came up with that connection string and other core modules were editable.

The way this module uses the DB connection  in non-view components (Settings, AddEvent at least) may be to investigate.

Had a chance to give 3.3.2 a quick run through and it looks great so far!

I would like to lobby heavily however for the ability to add an "All Day" event. This is by far the most requested feature our base is looking for.

Hello,

I manage to get 3.3.2 working.  I like what I see.  Some comment about date and refreshing on the Month view.

  1. I have 2 languages packs installed (en-US, fr-FR).  In the early days of the month, switching between the two localizations switches the month displayed.  That is 2/8/2007 means Feb 8th, 2007 in the US locale but August 2nd, 2007 in the French locale.  This is confusing for visitors changing language and get a calendar month different than the month that was displayed.  I guess there is a date conversion missing during the post-back when the localization changes.
  2. Clicking Today kind of sunkens the GO button.  Actually, the button state is more like after a mouse up (dark grey bars at the buttom and right sides).  This is unexpected to me although I might understand why this happens in javascript.
  3. Suggestion : Shouldn't the View date textbox match the Selected Date in calendar?  When changing the textbox then click GO, the Selected date syncs with the textbox but not the other way around.  Clicking a date in month does not change the View Date textbox.

HTH

Francois.

The following issue has been fixed in Beta 3.03.02 by adding a plausability check:

...
If you select german language (de-DE) and then enter an annually recurring event  in the following format:

Annual Event: repeat on date "31.12." (note the TWO dots) which is "12/31" in en-US locale)

then ALL events in that module instance will disappear in all calendar views! They will show again if English (US) language is selected.
If you omit the second dot (i. e. if you enter "31.12"), everything's OK!
...

There is only one little formatting issue left with this:
in "Edit Event / Recurring Settings / Annual Event", the format of the date input field does not reflect language changes (e.g. english "M/D/YYYY" vs. german "DD.MM.YYYY"), although the other date fields on this page do so.

(BTW: I still don't find it it obvious that you must enter the year as well, because you have entered the recurrence end date already in another field. Perhaps the field label "repeat on date" should be replaced with "repeat UNTIL date"?)

All other bugs I reported so far have been fixed as well. I also tested subcalendars, and found no bugs there. Good!

I would like to lobby heavily however for the ability to add an "All Day" event. This is by far the most requested feature our base is looking for.

How would you implement?  Details? (ex. ignore the date/times input if any; this would disallow mult-day events)
