Hi,

I downloaded and installed DNN which all went fine. Then I started to play. The problem occurred when I tried changing a skin. When I did, I got a simple message saying 'An error has occurred' twice over. From then on, DNN refused to work and just kicked out the error message.

I assumed that I had done the classic broken it by not reading the instructions to reinstalled it on the webserver with a new db etc and the followed the help file on changing skins. I went via the host/portal/skins menu and tried to 'apply' one the grey skins that (I assume) are included in the zip download. As soon as I hit apply, hey presto, the same problem. I assume I missing something here - can anyone help?

Alternatively, can anyone tell me how to restore DNN to a working version without have to start again?

thanks,

Brian Marsh

Brian I am not an expert in all fields of DNN but it sounds like you have been using the Vertical Menu - and I"m sorry you've had to install it twice to find out that it's not you - something was left out of DNN which means the Vertical Menu will break the skin.

Here is some information on how to rectify it - one by fixing the skin - the other by putting in the missing dll files.

I hope you didn't spend too much time with it.

Hi,

thanks for that help - however, and I guess it is probably staring me straight in the face, but I am struggling to find out which dll's are missing and how I might get them back into the site.

Any clues or should I just reinstall?

Brian
