To test the smtp connection, there is a test link that one can click on.  I clicked on it and it gave the "Email Sent Successfully" message.  I also checked the email address and in the inbox, there is an email sent by my server's email address back to its own email address with the subject "DotNetNuke SMTP Configuration Test".  So everything seems to work.

However, my problem is that when I click on the "forgot password" to recover a user's password, no email is sent to the user's email address (eventhough the confirmation page say "password is sent to your email")

What am I doing wrong?  Am I missing something else?  Something else I need to configure/setup with dnn to make it work?

What type of account are you sending the message to?  Is it possible that a spam filter is capturing the e-mail?  This is especially a problem with Yahoo and Hotmail.

Thanks for your reply... but that is not the case.  However, I just found out what the problem was (after playing around with it)...

I set it to "basic" (it was at "anonymous" before).  Not sure exactly what is the difference, but with "anonymous" I did not specifically provided it with a password (cause it autofilled it).  But when I choose "basic", I decided to fill in the user name and password... and it worked!
