Ok done the reinstall.... took everythng off then reinstalled, but I am getting an error when trying to install.

"Error Message: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level.  This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS."

"<machineKey validationKey="F9D1A2D3E1D3E2F7B3D9F90FF3965ABDAC304902" decryptionKey="F9D1A2D3E1D3E2F7B3D9F90FF3965ABDAC304902F8D923AC"

Any ideas as to how I go about this. I have checked the Vitual Directory and it points to the "website" folder as specified. Not too sure what it means by the last part of the error message "This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS." I have created the virtual directory and it is working, what more do I need to do to make it "an application"?

have resorted back to the dnn 3.5. It works so I will stick with this. Only problem is that it didnt install with a number of modules which means I will have to upload individually, unless there is a zip file with all the modules in it that I can just grab all at once.

Thanks for the help guys. I will probably attempt it again when I have a free machine around.

OK, rebuilt the whole server and did it from a fresh install. Now it works. I found out the problem with the previous installs, and dont I feel like a real ding dong..... In the SQL connection string, I realised that the whole line was quoted out. I deleted the 2005 express connection, and only realised now that the 2000 connection string was all commented out. So had I picked this up at the start, I would not of had to rebuild the server. Duh. I now I know for any future installs. Hey thanks guys for all the help you gave. Much appreciated.

Cheers
