Hi, Ive had to re-install an existing site, but now Ive done so, when I try to kick off the install process, I get a blank page (the url is http://renegadephotonet.site.securepod.com/install/install.aspx). Ive never had to do a re-install before, and have no idea if this is happening because there is a setting I need to get changed on the server (It was rebuilt for this account), or if there is something I need to tweak in teh config settings to tell it that it is doing a repair / reinstall, and the database already exists.

Any suggestions or gotchas for what Im doign would be appreciated.

Matt

is your database still intact from before?

If so you shouldn't need to run the install process, that is unless you have portals, and other modules that need to be extracted.

If that is the case I do not believe that the install function is broad enough to do that.  Do you have a backup of the old site?

Thanks Michael. Ive no idea what is going on. If I go to the default page it complains that some of the modules are missing, but if I try to log in to see if I can add them it doesnt accept the password. (Ive looked in the db, but as I expected, the passwords are stored encrypted.)

There wasnt a lot of work done on the site, so Im just trying to figure out how to plugh it into the ground and start again.

If you are not concerned about your data at all, do the following.

Delete the database from your SQL Server
Modify the web.config file to remove the "installationDate" appSetting
Create a new database for DNN, ensure that your user account still has dbo rights to the database

Then run your install.aspx page and it should do a clean install.  You mgiht want to also blow away all files in the DNN folder and reload a new copy due to the unpackaged modules..but that shouldn't be an issue.
