Hello!  I'm having problems with my web hosting service WebSecureStores - the hosting is okay - but the email service that comes with it (SmarterMail) isn't so smart.  There are issues with deliverability (inbound and outbound) and also massive spam attacks.

Prior to DNN, I had a single page hosted on Yahoo! - It was terrible, but the email worked like a charm - Is it possible to host a DNN site on Yahoo! Small Business so that I can go back to using my Yahoo! email?  If not, can someone recommend a better email service that I can use in conjunction with the current hosting service?

I am very new (this is actually the first website I've ever built) - http://www.departurewines.com - so if my questions seem foolish, they probably are.  Thanks!

I can't offer you much help but I looked into this a bit - if I could host my email at a different place from my site. The place where I was considering hosting mail said that it can be done. They need to modify MX records in DNS to make it happen. I don't have the details but it should be possible. I did not pursue this option afterall.

Hope this helps a bit,

Tom

Thanks for the feedback.

I think I need to ditch my hosting service and get on something with a more reliable email platform then.  The site was previously hosted on Yahoo! small business, but I don't think they host DNN?

I'm currently using WebSecureStores.com for hosting - any alternatives you would recommend?

Sorry I did not get back sooner...

I have recently switched to PowerDNN. My client hasn't complained about email problems since although I've only had him there for a little while. I have noticed a big increase in page load speed from my previous hosting company however.

I have been using WebSecureStores to host one of my sites and the e-mail service seems ok. However, rather than use SmarterMail, I use Microsoft Outlook 2003 to manage the e-mail for that site. So far, I haven't had much spam get through, and e-mail delivery seems to work ok. Any chance that you could use Outlook, or another e-mail client?

Chris
