take "skinpackname" as variable for the Name of the skin package, e.g. DNN-blue.

To create a modification of a skin, e.g. "DNN-Blue" create a new folder "DNN-Mod", copy all files from DNN-Blue into it, and make your modifications either directly in .ascx file or in .html file and reparse this skin.

Thank you Sebastian.
By the way, if you create a skin that's only a bit different from the original I would put it in the same folder, not a new one.
The folders are not skin- but skinpack-folders, which should contain a group of similar skins (they share some common files like "skin.css")
The advantage of Sebastian's approach is that you cannot spoil the original skin, which is safer if your new to skins.

Timo,

please be aware, that the original Skin files will get overwritten on every DNN update, so I strongly suggest to save your skin with another name (either in the same folder with different file names or a different folder).
