I have DNN 4.4.1 and well as the appropriate AD Fix (to sync account information on each logon).  When I navigate to my intranet page it takes about 25 seconds for it to load when I have 'Synchronize Role' checked.  I unchecked that option and it now only takes seconds.  Why does it take so long?

Another problem I ran into when I left 'Sync Role' UNchecked is that its not pulling information correctly from AD.  When a new user is auto-created it is pulling the first name as their login-name (ie. JDoe) and their last name as the domain, and it is not filling in Display Name.  But then when I switch to sync role, it pulls in the information correctly.  Any idea what is causing this problem?  Thanks very much in advance!!

I haven't noticed any slowdown when loading our intranet site unless the .NET process has shutdown on the server. Is there a chance that's what happened in your case and unchecking the Synchronize Roles didn't make a difference (because the process controlling the site was still in memory on your server)?

As for the second issue you mention, I'll have to step through the code to see what it does when Authentication is being used but Role synchronization isn't. Do you have your site automatically logging the users in or do they manually have to log in?

No, the application defintely has not shutdown because I have a process running on the server that keeps the site alive, and also users access alot throughout the day.  Every single first page load takes about 25 seconds.  I actually first thought it was maybe an RSS problem, then compression, but none of those worked until I unchecked 'Synchronize Role'.

Regarding the second issue, yes the site is automatically logging in the users.  Their AD information was pulling in correctly up until I unchecked 'Sync Role'

I greatly appreciate your help regarding this issue!
