Hi, I have just installed DNN version 4 on a local server. The installation seems to be fine and I can load the home page. But when I log in as host all that happens is that I return to the home page. I kind of expected to be able to get additional tools for configuring the site, but this doesn't happen . The home page looks exactly the same as before I log in.

Any ideas to what I am doing wrong?

Don't you get any error after the login? Reading you posting seems all is ok, except you can see anything special...

When you login as host do you see the "SuperUser Account" on the top-right of the screen and login changing to logout?

Could it be that you have cookies disabled on your browser?

Same here. I have done my first dotnetnuke 3.2.2 installation on my local server 2003. The server also has windows sharepoint services installed. After changing trust level in the roots web.config file to WSS_Medium i could successfully install DNN.

Logging in to either host or admin generates a LOGIN_SUPERUSER/LOGIN_SUCCESS record in the eventlog database table. No error message is displayed during login. The main page is reloaded but still has the "Register" and "Login" labels as opposed to the expected "Administrator Account" "Logout". and no control panel is displayed. "Register" a new account seems to work but the same thing happens when i log in to the newly created account. Cookies allowed. I'm on local intranet.

Not sure this is the same problem but seems Sharepoint adds some entrophy to the game. Just remembered a post by Shaun a few days ago. RE:

How Requests are Handled in IIS and Through the ISAPI Filter

IIS handles base HTTP requests, but Windows SharePoint Services implements an Internet Server API (ISAPI) filter (STSFLTR.DLL) that modifies IIS behavior to handle managed paths, or inclusions and exclusions. The ISAPI filter either redirects requests to the Windows SharePoint Services ISAPI extension, or it allows ASPX pages (.aspx) and Web service URLs (.asmx) to fall through the filter to the SharePoint ASP.NET handler.

You will need to read the rest of the article here:

 Hope this helps

Cookies are enabled on my browser. I am using the browser on the 2003 server machine. Nothing special happens when I log in. I do not see the "SuperUser Account" and Login does not change to Logut either. When I look in the eventlog table login seems to be successful.
