I uploaded some PDF files to a repository and when users download them the spaces in the original uploaded filenames are replaced with underscores. Is there a way to stop this as I'd rather the filenames not be changed?

The logic was added because FireFox does not handle filename with embedded spaces properly and truncates the filename.

Hhmmm a bit strange. Is it possible to change this? My use is in a corporate environment where only IE is used and only by registered users in non-publicly accessible areas.

I've seen in some modules where there is browser specific logic, i.e. if IE do this, if firefox do that, etc. - perhaps this would be a better solution?

Just looked at Google Analytics, and I only get 5% with Firefox in the public areas of my web-site - don't know if this is typical.

Is this fixed in the impending new release? Just had a corporate user complain about a download filename issue. Looks like they were using FireFox (have yet to confirm). The filename has a dash in it and it seems everything, including the filename extension is removed after the dash on download. Is this a common experience? I also just tried to download on a Mac with Safari and the same file downloads perfectly, i.e. with spaces and the correct extension (i.e. better than IE7, which is a shock as Safari has other issues re presentation of the site). So much for standards!

I am not sure if this has been addressed in the new release, however, I will confirm that this is a nifty little FireFox item that causes a bit of pain.

The root of the issue is that it stems back to the standard of web urls not having those characters in them..
