I'm trying to setup the forum and I'm having a bit of an issue. Perhaps it's mostly with my (lack of) understanding. I've read all the documentation on the forum and DNN, and I'm still a bit confused. I created a user with a username of "RegisteredUser". He is a member of the "Registered Users" security role only. He is not able to post or reply to threads in the forum.

The forum page has the following settings:
Administrators: View and Edit (both grayed out, but both selected)
All Users: View
Registered Users: View
Subscribers: View
Unauthenticated Users: View

The forum module on the forum page has the following settings:
Administrators: Edit (both grayed out, but only Edit selected)
All Users: Nothing (View grayed out)
Registered Users: Nothing (View grayed out)
Subscribers: Nothing (View grayed out)
Unauthenticaed Users: Nothing (View grayed out)
Inherit View permissions from Page: Checked.

How do I setup the forum to the followig configuration:
General public (unauthenticated users) may browse the forums and read topics but cannot post or reply.
Registered users may browse the forums, read topics, post topics, and reply to topics.

Thanks!

The forum module should NOT inherit view permissions- uncheck that one, then give "edit" permissions to the roles you want to be able to post...

The funny thing is- this is not an "odd problem" in the sense that it is unusual. This matter- allowing registered users to post- is probably THE most common stumbling block about the module.

WHY the module's permissions are like this is the oddity.  I understand the latest version uses a different manner, mercifully.

Thanks. That fixed it. Is there a reputation system on these forums? I'd like to add to yours if there is one.
