Thanks for your suggestions, leazon!  I will certainly look at them . . . especially the Xmod and Module Builder. I saw them on SnowCovered but thought that they may be complicated to use. But building modules with HTML (is that what you inferred?)  That is intriguing . . .

Yes, with either Xmod or Module Builder you need only basic html skills.  Of course the more you know the more you can do.

Xmod is great for beginners because of the excellent documentation and great support. Xmod 5 should be coming out in a few weeks and offers a large number of new features.

Module Builder is new and has promising features and is easy to use. It is a Windows app that builds modules that are then upload into your portal.  Listx is probably the most powerful but it is much more difficult to use overall plus you really need to have a little knowledge of the sql language.

Thanks, leazon, for your recommendations and brief overviews. I will definitely check them all out when I clean off my plate somewhat.  These are fun toys . . . when one has some time
