Chris,

I haven't had this much fun reading 'Announce It' posts since this forum was created. Anyway, I think this would be a great tool to merge with the code from Peeping DNN. I propose a frankenstein module with the ability to send out  a 'not-really-a-pop-up' message to everyone currently online that someone has entered the chat page or even better merge it with a chat module that someone has entered the chat! One of the biggest complaints from my customers is wondering if anyone is in the chat. I tried using a'Where are they' module but it's not accurate enough. The key would be figuring out the best way to broadcast it to everyone without them having to click or refresh. A key feature would be the ability to turn it off for specific users that 'HATE' those 'not-really-a-pop-up' messages. Ventrian's private messages has that feature built in and also pop-up an unobtrusive message if a message is waiting for them.

Thanks for listening to my 2 cents....

Chris, just to let you know...I visited your website, saw the pop up ad and couldn't close it (clicking the "Close this window"  button didn't work)

Thanks!  Turned out to be a FireFox issue with some late changes.  I've addressed this issue and I'm posting the release now to OnyakTech.com.

This module has stirred up some controversy as well as ideas for enhancements and new modules.  All are being considered for release.  One…is already BETA.

The idea for this new module came from this conversation but it’s not actually using the same design as OnyakTech.Ads.  At least not yet, but it is somewhat the same.

The new module is called DNN SysA.lerts.  This module allows you to take your site offline and work on your site from the server while displaying a friendly notice to your visitors.  Before the system is taken offline, the users will see a notice explaining the site outage just one time and then they can continue to finish their business before the site goes offline.

This module extends this use by allowing you to display notices for specific portals or tabs just one time to each visitor.

This release is currently BETA and is available for download to all OnyakTech subscribers on http://www.OnyakTech.com.  Read the README file for installation instructions, there is a required change to your web.config.  Let me know your thoughts on this new release.

One more thing... the notices are skinable.  Just edit the templates in the install directory to fit your needs.  Make sure you keep the tags in place.
