We are trying to incorporate various style elements into our DotNetNuke site and are having some problems.  We are working with the style.css (solpart menu classes).  We would like to have certain main menu items appear with a different background color than others - so as to show groupings of items.  We want some in Blue and some in Green.  Example:

MENU ONE  (would like this to appear with say blue background)

MENU TWO (would like this to appear with green background)

Anyone know how to affect this?  We want it to appear this way when you first visit the site, so what we're looking for is not a hover setting or selected setting.

I think this is beyond the capability of the standard menu system... much easier to implement using the Telerik menu.

Actually, this is not a limitation of the menu itself, rather the skin object and its navigation provider.  Specific css can be applied to each level of the menu, however the default skin objects provide no way set these classes.

So Jon, is it possible to apply css to a specific root menu item? If so, how? I have a similar requirement. On my site, when users login other menu items appear, and I would like those root menu item(s) to be highlighted to the user with different colours so their attention is drawn to them.
