Here's a weird one gang!

I downloaded, installed, and added the updated standard 'Forum' module from dotnetnuke.com to my DNN site.  This site was recently upgraded to the latest and greatest version of 4.x as of a couple of weeks ago.

Here's my problem so far:

I added the 'Forum' module to the site's 'Home' page, and could never get the 'New Thread' link to appear regardless of the account I logged into.  Admin, Host, new/registered user account, it just didn't matter.

I reviewed all the documentation, and made sure that I'm enabling 'Edit' priviledges for the 'Registered Users' on the Forum module.  Still no luck.

I create a new page and add the module to it, and guess what?  EVERYTHING works just great on the *new* page.  I add a third page and repeat the process?  Again, everything works.

I then suspected that there must be some kind of setting on the home page that is causing this behavior by the Forum module (ONLY on the home page remember...), but I can't seem to locate any feature that made sense or made any difference.

I deleted the Forum module from the Home page, and re-added it hoping that would some how "magically" fix whatever the problem was.  Nada.  No difference.

Some behavior observations:

One weird trait of note is.... when coming into the site anonymously, the module works fine for viewing regardless of what page it invoked from.  No 'New Thread' button is displayed (which is expected because you haven't logged in yet), but the threads act normal and can be clicked on and read just fine.  To repeat... when not logged in, the Forum module works as expected on all 3 pages, including 'Home'.

But... if you log in as *any* user and try to even click on the 'General' discussions link to see what threads exist, the screen blinks and nothing else happens.  The underlying threads aren't displayed (which at least should be happening), and the 'New Thread' button still isn't produced and displayed!

Again... go to any other page that has the Forum module on it (other than Home) and it works just fine.

Any suggestions for this one folks??

Thanks a bunch in advance!

TB

Ensure that registered users have "Edit" permissions at the module level for your forum on you homepage.

When selecting the 'Settings' option (7th line down) on the menu that appears when you mouseover on the down arrow icon next to the word 'Forum', my permissions look like the following regardless of whether I view it from the Home page (where it doesn't work), or the other pages where the module works:

  View Module Edit Module
Administrators
All Users
Registered Users
Subscribers
Unauthenticated Users

I'm laboring under the assumption that changes made to the forum from this menu item affects ANY instance of the forum module on the site... not just the page displaying it at the time you invoke the menu, correct?  Even changes made under the options in the 'Forum Administration' (1st line item) seem to be global for the website.

So....... any more ideas why the permissions set like the above on the forum module are ignored by the home page, but not the other pages?

For the record, when I select 'Forum Administration' / 'Manage Forums/Groups', the settings on the one available forum looks like the following:  (NOTE: I noticed that the Authorized Edit Roles section is "None Specified", but if this needed to be set to 'Registered Users', then no one should be able to current post to the forum from ANYWHERE on the website, right?)

Edit Forum
 General Information

 General Settings

(None Specified)

Thanks again!
