Hi all,

I was very pleased to see that my articles on DotNetNuke Search Engine Optimization were mentioned in the latest DotNetNuke newsletter :) Thanks to whomever wrote the newsletter and picked up on my articles.

Unfortunately the links in the newsletter to part 1 and part 2 both pointed to part 1, whoops.

They can both be found on www.codeproject.com - here are the correct links: part 1, A starter guide and part 2, Remove duplicated content.

These two articles were based on my blog posts DotNetNuke Search Engine Optimization and Remove Duplicated Content in DotNetNuke to improve your PR

Basically the articles discuss some relatively simple things that you can do to improve your DotNetNuke Search Engine Optimization and get a higher ranking.

Hi JK,

thanks for your excellent articles!

I'm though a little bit chocked over the fact that each page has to be modified manually, as I have about a thousand pages at my site www.whiplashinfo.se/english.html . Is there no script or function I can use to fix the SEO problems you show us?

Hi yes, unfortunately some things will have to be done manually for each page ... like selecting a module to have a H1 tag around its title - nothing else you can do except go to every page.  You could create a container with a title defined like this <h1>[TITLE]</h1>, but you still have to go to every page and select one module to use that container.  Excluding the login and other controls in robots.txt has to be done for every page since there is no wildcard in the robots.txt spec.  And so on .. so sorry, it will require some amount of effort.

SEO is a manual process you're going to have to live with if you want to do it right and get higher page ranks.

Keywords should be words that are pertinent to the current page AND included in the content. That in alone itself is a manual process for each page on your site.

JK,

Thanks for your very, very informative 2 part article. It definitely taught me a few things I was not aware of.

Thanks for clarifying what part 1 and 2 was supposed to be.

I strongly disagree though with some of your claims made in part one.

Will keywords in URLs help your rankings? They sure do. But the inclusion of named anchors does not provide additinal benefits.
