I am trying to delete a portal but i keep getting the following error when trying to edit the portal (the page where the delete option is):

Error: Site Settings is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.PortalManagement.SiteSettings.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

any idea how i can delete old portals? i think they are corrupt.

Any help appreciated .

I am receiving the same error.  I was trying to create a new portal and the browser or server timed out.  When I tried to edit the portal I receive the same error message.  There is no way to delete the portal and start over.  (Maybe an enhancment to add a delete/purge feature/button to clean up failed portal creation?)  Strange enough though, I can add/change the HTTP alias.

Any help would be appreciate by me as well.  Even if it's a sql delete query or the like.

Thanks in advance!
Robert

We had this issue on early versions of DNN3.0.8. I have not tried it recently. but it does sound that it may be an old bug that is still around.

I will test on my local.

It's been a while now, but I seem to recall the server timing out while trying to create a portal from a template that had about 2mb of content (from an earlier export with content).  I'm on DNN 3.2.2 if that helps.  I was thinking of linking up MS Access to the DB (it's remote) and poking around the tables to see if I could fashion a query.  If you have any ideas or suggestions I would be happy to give them a try.

The exact error is:

Error: Site Settings is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.PortalManagement.SiteSettings.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---
