John, I think both you and Sebastian are right, not me. Another prove you cannot be always on top of all new great features DNN has. Charles told us in another thread that this is used in the Profile section to make private portal lists. I haven't looked at the implementation details but it should be somewhere on the profile section.

I agree....

My original post wasn't that clear either.  I am leaning toward creating another Lists type table and a UI for the portal/application specific reference data.  By this I mean the reference data that would be entered post-installation and not via the Lists module available to the Host.  I think it would be safer than assuming I can use fields in tables created by DotNetNuke.  (plus I get paid by the hour - j/k)
