Like any piece of software if you want the functionalities and flexibility as a user there is always the learning curve.  Anything that is targeting specific functionalities or audience will be easier to use.

We specialize in implementing web forms for clients and would love to take a look at your quiz module if available.  Currently we are looking to a specialist quiz module that will allow question branching, whereby if the user answers A in question 1, skip 2, 3 and proceed to question 4 etc..

I didnt want to start a burn war with that comment and i know what you mean but really a piece of dynamic form software isnt really very sgeared towards quizes - I know we went down a path like that - it was more work to do that than to whip up a few custom controls and a way to tell swhat control to use s- much easier - again i didnt want to start a flame war it was just an opinion if the software works for you great happy for you - but i thought it was more work than just starting from scratch

Mitchell:

I will buy the quiz module from you, if it's not ridiculously expensive, of course. Email me at makkabokka@yahoo.com when it is ready. I brought one quizzing module from Markus Warnking from snowcovered three weeks ago. He claimed that it worked on DNN4 but it didn't! He has not fixed it yet neither is he refunding me my money. He is from Germany.

Anyone knows how to handle the problem of getting the refund in such instances? I am bit worried to buy software from snowcovered because they don’t seem to guarantee anything.

Here is what I am looking for in a quizzing module.

Multiple choice questions only. No fill in the blanks or match the pairs. Time taken to answer each question and all of the quiz. Categories of the question, like different subjects. All these questions can be mixed or not. Random question selection from any subject or from just one subject. After each question is answered a small pop up window which explains the answer stating why the answer is correct or wrong. Save for later review button. Pause button. result display which shows Correct answer and wrong answer as per the category. Report the question if someone thinks the answer explaination is wrong.

These are some of the issues right now. I am sure I will come up with more eventually.

Regarding EF and its complexity, I don't entirely disagree. The documentation is very high level - not a manual by any means - and the complexity is a bit daunting. Took me a while to warm up to it.

I guess it took me longer to get to the tipping point where I felt productive than I would have liked - but now that I have, I think it was worth it.

It's not the kind of module you turn your end users loose on. You get somebody good at it, and others come to her/him for higher level form needs.

For the kind of form module end users can make sense of - and which is still very capable - I like Form Master.

But all this is somewhat OT. I do think that with EF's current features, and using a bit of javascript for doing weghting / scores - that it could work nicely for a quiz. I'll give it a try sometime, I'm sure ...

Not engaging in software war, either - just stating what I believe to be the case. The brick-wall complexity of EF could be better balanced with intuitive usability, no doubt about it. But once the swelling on the forehead goes down, it is rather an interesting and very useful tool.
