Thank you - that is very helpful.

Basically I am trying to change the way we store dates in the database for each entry.
I want to start storing UTC. Then the UI will do the conversion based on the Blog TimeZone setting.

Right now, the date manipulation is all over the place. I have got it working with UTC. Only problem now is DST.
I'll see if the article you sent will be able to help.

Also remember that the current blog code is on .net 1.1. In .net 2.0 there is a method that I can call like this Date.Now.IsDaylightSaving() which will return true or false.

Will let you know how that goes.

Sorry, forgot that it was .Net 1.1

There seems to be a timezone issue.  Was thinking about trying to put together a small work around.

This seems to work in 1.1

Dim mydate As Date = IIf(TimeZone.CurrentTimeZone.IsDaylightSavingTime(Date.UtcNow), Date.UtcNow.Subtract(System.TimeSpan.FromDays(1)), Date.UtcNow)

where does it take the DST information from? the server or the client?

please note, that not all portals are set to the server time zone as default time zone. Note as well, that different countries (even in same time zone) might have different start and end dates for DST (at least, depending whether they are on northern or southern hemisphere).

Can we set the culture in the method?  This would allow a standard location to be set.  For example the method could be set to GMT in order to get the date value.

Yes - the culture is taken in consideration as well.
