I've had nothing but trouble form images since I started trying to make my own skin for a small little personal site (DNN 3). I finally buckled and used the <LOGO> to mast my skin, but the real problem comes in now... containers. I only need one guys, really! The issue is that my images never show up. it's like they simply aren't there. I've tried the file structure that I've seen posted on many sites:

Skins\
   MySkin\
      Skins\
         Whole.bunch.o.files
      Containers\
         Some.more.files

I've had no luck compressing into a zip and getting any of my skins to load (or my container). I've started at the "MySkin" level, the "Skins" and "Containers" level, but the only thing I can get to work is grabbing all the files in on directory and making one zip. Then uploading two. This is irritating, but do-able. Even when I can get a successful skin or container to upload, however, I see no images. They are there in the file system, but not on the page. I'm not doing any funky linking either. Just a simple "src='MyImage.gif'" or "url(MyImage.gif)".

Please help me out here guys and gals.

Can you please expand on your skin and container details.

It sounds to me the problem with your packaging. Also, How do you upload it as if you upload a container that is done correctly, then it the portal create a folder called container and in it there will be another folder which is the name of your container.

So if you call your container  mycontainer.zip please note that within the zip there should be only see the image folder and either your ascx or html file and skin.css and skin.xml file. You can not put your container or skin content in a folder and zip the folder.

If they are inside a folder then the portal will not be able to pars it.

Image folder? What image folder should I be creating, and why have I never seen an "image folder" in any of the tutorials I've found, or in any of the prepackaged skins or containers that I have downloaded. If my container_name.ascx file is in a folder named MySkin\Containers where should this image folder be located?

What additional details do I need to post about my skin or container? My skin is very simple, and my container as well. The packaging part is irritating because I can put both in a pretty little package like I see everyone else do, but that's okay. Getting the images showing is my main concern.

Well, I've managed to get my container's corners working by creating an "images" folder under my container directory, and referencing the images as "images/MyImage.gif" from the container.css. I'm still, unfortunately, not able to anything. Even using the same structure and linking, I can't seem to get my shim to work. Is there some sort of built-in (into DNN) shim that I can use like "spacer.gif" in a certain path, or "blank.gif", or something of that nature?

Why are images so difficult? Is there a good tutorial out there that will explain what paths and linkings are needed for a good solid deployment?

Normally one puts all the images in a image folder. And has the html/ascx as well as skin.css outside the image folder. Are you developing your skins/container as html or ascx? can we see the one that is causing the problem?
