Hello:

Does anyone have suggestions on how to deploy their DNN 4 site from a source setup? I can think of three solutions but not sure which is best.

  1. Nant - I have only used this for DNN3 sites.
  2. MSBuild - Not familiar with this.
  3. Use the Install package and copy any new DLLs and ascx files for custom modules.

Hello:

I need some help.  I have a DotNetNuke 4.x website and have been developing custom modules for a company making use of this site.  I am not sure how I should go about building this site prior to deploying it for client use.  For now I am making an exact copy of my development website which works, but would be interested to know what others are using to compile their DNN 4 sites.  I have tried the "Publish" site feature in VS 2005 but receive runtime errors, i.e. cannot find path "App_Global", and have not had luck using the Build/Deploy project which can be added to the solution.

I would like to use MSBuild and/or Nant but am not sure how to build my solution, which is a combination of a website along with web projects.

Thanks for any thoughts on this!

Well, I just downloaded v4.5.2 and see that there is a Tools directory which contains MSBuild tasks!  I will take a look at these and see what I can glean from these.  Thanks! John
