Maybe I'm a little dumb but can someone please explain to me why there is such a big fuss about bringing a new version into life? Why not release for everybody to download? Who could better test it than the people running production websites? There are so many bugs in the current version I'd be happy to get something better even if it is not "perferct"; and let's be honest; error free software is nothing anybody has ever achived in any application consisting of more than 10 lines of code

I completely understand where you are coming from. I wish the process were faster but please understand why it is not so quick:

  • Thousands of community members expect some basic requirements to be fulfilled (ie. module installs properly)
  • There is no distinction between novice and expert DNN users for downloading.
  • With the growing size of DNN, security is becoming more and more important and must be reviewed before each release

Now, since this forum version was basically a full rewrite, this is going to take time to review. I agree that even when this does release, the module will have some bugs. Please remember, I partially agree with you but also feel that this one is worth the wait.

I think the real issue is that Release Tracker doesn't have a status report that the community can see.

If you're waiting for a module, you don't know where it is in the process and if it will be days, weeks, or months before you can download it to see if it will work for you.

Thanks for your help Chris, hopefully we'll get to see the new forum soon.
