I have inherited a DNN website. The database is being migrated to SQL 2005 from 2000. Currently the database is on both instances of SQL. The login name is the same as well as the password. The login has dbowner on the dnn databases. When I change the connection string it says that dnn can't connect to the database. What else can I be doing wrong? I have looked at everything.

by default tcp/ip and named pipes protocols are not enabled for sql2005, that might be the problem here. You can enable the protocols through the sql server configuration manager

No, I'm still getting a problem even after the change.

Can you post an example of your connection string?  (Obviously removing the server name and account info, but just the general structure).

Also are you 100% sure that the usernames and passwords are the same?

I got it now. I didn't realize there was a default option of the password needs to be changed at first login for SQL 2005. Thanks for the help.
