Mitchel,

I work for a consulting company and have used DNN as a portal solution for three separate clients. I have been very impressed with the extensibility and flexibility of DNN. I host the QA and Prod environments on our own servers on our DMZ.

I am currently in the process of porting http://www.datingblocks.com a personal project to DNN.

With that said I have a couple of questions.

1. Will I have any problem using my own SSL certificate with 3essentials? I saw that they offer a shared certificate url, what options do I have. I would rather not send my clients to another domain to make a payment.

2. Is the process to install dnn on a hosting company different then how I usually install DNN?

     a. Create new Database

     b. Create SQL Login

c Change connection string info in the web.config

     d. Move the files using an ftp client and hit URL to install

3. I usually have to assign NETWORK SERVICE or ASP.NET users full permission to where the web app resides, does the hosting company do this automatically or do I need to ask them to do this?

4. I am looking at the B10 plan, is that my best bet?

Sorry for all the questions, but thanks for the info!

Marc

Marc,

Sorry for the delay in responding, I couldn't find this post for a while yesterday.....

1.) You should not, but if you want to triple check use the instant chat to check with 3Essentials they are great about answering that type of question.

2.) The process is a bit different, but more because you use the control panel to create the db and login...but overall the same

3.) You will need to submit a support request for them to apply the permissions to the ROOT.  It takes them usually no more than 1 hour to complete!

4.) If you don't have a bunch of sites, I would say so.  That is what I am running on and it gives me a fair amount of flexibility and room to grow.
