You may know about this offer already but just in case, Microsoft will give you a free copy of VS 2005 Standard Ed if you attend two of their Labcast Series training sessions and submit the evaluation form for each afterwards.  These sessions are also free.

Go here for info and registration: http://www.microsoft.com/business/vb2005upgrade/default.mspx

I am not associated with MS by the way, just wanted to share this finding with the DNN community.

Carlos,

That is a great find!

Also, I am sure that everyone already knows about this, but any college students or college faculty (Including adjunct) can obtain an education license for Visual Studio 2005 Pro for $99!

Yeah, I know about the student discounts/versions.  I also read recently that Microsoft was trying to control that a little better so that ONLY students and faculty benefit from it.  Apparently too many wise guys are taking advantage of the lower prices.

Would I date myself if I told you I remember buying Borland's Turbo Pascal for DOS for about $45.00 at the George Mason bookstore?

Carlos,

I know Microsoft is trying to take better control over the education licenses....but luckily for me a have two legit reasons to buy via the education discount right now, and they are no longer limiting the use like they used to.

Yeah, I would say that it dates you a bit....but I guess I would show how young I am by saying that most likely I wasn't even using computers that much at that time....(that is what happens with being in my early 20's....)

I went to the launch of VS 2005 in Denver, CO. They gave me the Visual Studio  2005 St.Ed. and SQL VS 2005 (1 licence)....For free (not only me, but everybody that complete the survey and attend the seminar) ..

It's full version...Amazing ...isn't it? (I am using now!)

 Cheers,

Alfonso
